Saariselkä is one of Finland's most-loved winter resorts — glass igloos, husky trails and endless fell scenery. If you are based in Ruka or Kuusamo, here is exactly what to expect on the journey north by private transfer.
The journey
The drive from Ruka/Kuusamo up to Saariselkä is a comfortable half-day trip through classic Lapland scenery — snow-laden forest, frozen lakes and open fells. Your English-speaking driver handles the winter roads while you relax in a warm van. We build in a comfort stop so you can stretch, grab a hot drink and use facilities.
Comfort and luggage
The van seats up to 8 with plenty of room for suitcases, ski bags and winter gear. It is a private vehicle for your group only — no sharing — so you set the pace. Child seats are available on request, making it a stress-free option for families.
Pickup and drop-off
We collect you door-to-door from your hotel, cabin or the airport and drop you exactly where you are staying in Saariselkä. Airport pickups are welcome; just share your flight details when booking so we can time everything.
What it costs
The transfer is €700 per vehicle, one way — for the whole van of up to 8, not per person. The return leg from Saariselkä back to Ruka is also available.
Make it a trip: book a day trip or aurora night at either end. Ruka and Kuusamo sit under one of Europe's clearest aurora skies before you head north.
