Where Passion
Meets the Polar Sky
Ruka Northern Lights Tours was founded in 2016 by a group of Finnish wilderness guides with one obsession: sharing the incomparable magic of the aurora borealis with people who had dreamed of seeing it their whole lives. We grew up under these skies. We know every frozen lake, every spruce-lined clearing, every dark hillside where the lights dance without obstruction.
What started as a passion project became Ruka and Kuusamo's most trusted aurora experience. Over eight seasons we have guided more than 2,500 guests — couples on honeymoon, families with wide-eyed children, solo travellers seeking something profound — and not once have we stopped marvelling at the sky above us.

Born and Raised Here
Our guides have lived in the Ruka–Kuusamo region their entire lives, giving you access to secret wilderness spots that no tourist ever finds on their own.

Deliberately Small Groups
Maximum eight guests per tour. A quiet, personal, unhurried experience — never a crowd, never a cattle-run. Just you, the wilderness and the aurora.

Science Meets Instinct
We monitor KP-index, solar wind data and cloud cover in real time, then combine that with decades of local knowledge to find the lights wherever they appear.
